Barn & Field Classic auto finds?
Whenever I tell people I'm looking for a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia they tell me some story about a friend of theirs who found one for 300$, from a friend, in a barn, in a field or from their grandpa. Are there any vintage auto enthusiasts on here? Where do you find your vintage auto steals? Can you give me tips on how to find an unwanted/abandoned vintage cars (ie. Volkswagens)? I've done classifieds, craigslist, auto traders, and driving around barn/ field searching. Shucks, my friends and family don't have one either.

- Some people get very lucky with finds. I'd just buy a running driving Karmann Ghia if that's what you want. I don't think they're that expensive and it would definitely cost more to restore one. Unless you really enjoy projects, then keep scanning the classifieds and something will come up.
- Unless you are very mechanically skilled and have a garage /air compressor/ lift/ and all the time in the world, don't buy a barn car! Buy one that's been done. Pick your favourite car , and find out what a restored one is selling for.{ Hemmings , Cars&Parts , Auto Trader E Bay cars } all good places to get an idea on what your dream car will cost. If you are going to use the car, then buy an older restoration. It will cost twice that to restore a basket case. And some barn cars , that look ok from the outside can have structural rust so bad ,that the car is only good for parts..Be realistic ,Dreams cost more money than they're worth
